The clue is in its name: this little treasure of hairdressing salon is located in an 18th century building with the Roman arches and original stone walls to boot. One lady holds the shears; her name is Eli. I was first drawn to 1743 because my mother-in-law religiously books an appointment with Eli whenever she flies into Barcelona. I was never quite sure, and still am not, how she first found the salon in the first place, but it made me curious enough to book myself in.
Now I’m a little wiser as to why she keeps returning. Eli is a good listener, which, after being skilled with the scissors, is the easily most important attribute of a great hairdresser. Her prices are deliciously affordable. And she is exceptional at bringing out the sexy factor in hair, which, when you’re sleep-deprived and short on time, is nothing short of a bonus.
