That’s the surest sign you’re in the right place. Start with the steamed prawn or beef dumplings, then move on to a fragrant pad Thai or one of the stronger curries – and trust your server when they warn you a dish is “quite spicy,” because here they mean it. A few frosty bottles of Singha keep the heat in check.
You won’t eat as cheaply as you would on Bangkok’s Khao San Road, but a modest bill still buys you a feast. It’s small, it’s honest and it doesn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t. The real deal, in other words.
